A Notice of Intent to sue was served today to the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service over the lack of a current recovery plan to guide Mexican wolf conservation. The NOI was served in an effort to prompt the Service to develop an update to its outdated 1982 recovery plan for Mexican wolves that meets the legal mandates of the Endangered Species Act, including a plan that uses the best-available science, seeks state participation and includes Mexico as a key element to successful recovery. The Secretary of the Interior has 60 days to respond.
