A POWERFUL Dua can change everything Allah (swt) mentions in the Quran the example of sailors who are exposed to violent, stormy seas. When they feel that they are surrounded from all sides, they call upon Allah in sincerity, saying: “‘If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful.’ But when He saves them, at once they commit injustice upon the earth without right” (10:22-23). They turned to Allah (swt) alone when they were in desperate need, and when He saved them, they went back to associating partners with Him and continuing their injustice in the world. Allah (swt) hears the dua of all people. Anyone on earth who turns to Him in supplication, sincerely and without associating partners with Him, will be heard and responded to. But what has that person gained through the experience if he simply returns to his old ways once the hardship is removed from him? You cannot understand the significance of dua if you believe that it is a simple act of asking for something you want and then turning the other way when you get it. Dua is much more than that. Dua is an acknowledgement of the Oneness and All-Powerful nature of Allah. Dua is a seed that is planted and watered each time a person raises his or her hands. It can grow into a beautiful flower, plant or even tree that bears fruits, benefiting all those around it.
