A PR individual sent me an embargoed press release tonight announcing a local companys April Fools joke for tomorrow: Hope you had a great weekend. I wanted to give you a quick heads up on an elaborate April Fools joke that’s going to be unveiled by*** tomorrow. We are announcing that our agency is launching its own brand of Kosher wine – dubbed *** – and that our CEO, *****, will be leaving *** in order to oversee operation of the new winery. As you may know, advertising agencies in the Philadelphia area have become famous (infamous?) for developing and selling their own proprietary liquor brands. Really – its a thing. So this year, in celebration of our 50th Anniversary, *** has decided to join to party. Here’s what we have planned: · An official press release crossing the wire nationally tomorrow at 9:00 AM ET – (see below for the embargoed release) · The launch of an entire website for ****, complete with product shots, tasting notes, expert wine reviews, and a book of drink recipes · A social media campaign targeting regional ad agencies, food bloggers, wine enthusiasts, etc. What started as a silly idea has developed into an expansive (ridiculous) integrated agency project that has allowed us flex our creative muscles.
