A PROPOSAL FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF MBEMBE FESTIVAL DAY IN - TopicsExpress

A PROPOSAL FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF MBEMBE FESTIVAL DAY IN OBUBRA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF CROSS RIVER STATE, BY THE MBEMBE PEOPLES ASSEMBLY(MPA). We, under the auspices of the Mbembe Peoples Assembly (MPA) and from the National Secretariat after an exhaustive National Executive meeting, have resolved to put this proposal across, calling for a unifying Mbembe festival day in Obubra Local Government Area. This is sequel to developments and best practices seen in other unifying communities. An example of which is the Leboku Festival in the nearby Yakurr Local Government Area. This has brought so much good tidings to the people of Yakurr, as their festival today, is of international repute, sponsored by Cross River State Government and other International organizations. Thereby boasting their economy and bringing development to the people. It is on this note that we have to borrow a live and commence the introduction of Mbembe Festival Day where all Mbembe people would come together to celebrate as a people. Be that as it may, the Mbembe Peoples Assembly (MPA) is a non- governmental organization certified by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and recently by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor all elections in the country. It had presented a communique through the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria on the omission of an Obubra son/daughter as delegate to the concluded National Conference, a case we hope will not repeat itself . It is an organization with the vision of building a socio-cultural, economic, political and virile integration so as to speak and champion the unity of Mbembe people and a platform where the much needed emancipation of the Mbembe land will be attained. Mbembe Peoples Assembly (MPA ) has its constituent assemblies across the National, States, Zonal and Local government levels and has been very consistent in all its activities right from inception. Furthermore, this assembly has consulted widely and deliberated exhaustively before coming out with this proposal of having a unifying, central festival day which will bring forth unity, love, reduce crime in our land and bring the Mbembe sons and daughters together to agree and speak always with one voice, so that our lost glories that have eluded us will be regained. It shall have a wide publicity and shall build up so many events to mark the day. This will also go a long way in abolishing all these community festivals, as these are channels for criminal activities and other social vices like cultism, intra and inter-communal crises. We believe in re-inventing the wheel by proposing good programmes and prospects that will elevate our land and its people from this statusquo. We have gone out and seen other ethnic communities striving toward oneness and are reaping the dividends as a people. Ours should not lack behind. We implore all stakeholders to wake up to this challenge, so that Mbembe land where our fore fathers fought and kept for us would be a place to reckon with. It has not gone off memory that this Mbembe festival will engender unity, love and understanding within our people. It will attract foreign interests and investments. It will cause us to revisit our tourist sites and explore our fallowed mineral resources. Awards shall be attracted for the best performing sons and daughters of Mbembe as this will spur people up in all their endeavours. Conclusively, we call on all stakeholders to key into this Mbembe project and call a stakeholders meeting where the representatives of the National body of this Gods given organization will be invited and deliberations concerning this epoch making event, made and conclusions reached and road map drawn on how this can be actualised. We remain fervent in our quest to speak for the emancipation of the Mbembe ethnic nationality. May God help us! CC; Chairman Obubra LGA, Paramount Ruler/ Traditional Ruling Council, House of Assembly members Obubra Constituency 1 and 2. Leader, Obubra Legislative Council, Youth Leader, Obubra LGA. Woman Leader, Obubra LGA. --------------------------- Hon. King Sylvester Omenyi National President(MPA)
