A Person is A Person no matter how small” I had the pleasure to sit down to dinner last night with two amazing women. We have been friends since we were 12 years old. As I looked at them, I could not shake the fact both of these women were strikingly beautiful. The one on my left I have always been proud of. I watched her go through college, attended her wedding, joined our kids together for a play date, and even trusted her with my animals care. But it was the other women to my right that fascinated my evening. She did not have the pose and streaking blue eyes of the doctor but she did have the most beautiful voice so calm and true. Even though she claimed to swear a lot, it never raised to an unpleasant tone, and so I sat and listened. She claimed to be a women who still didn’t know what she wanted to do. This amused me, “Have you done nothing so far?” I asked. People tend to forget the important things in life such as the words of another Dr I grew up with “A person is a person no matter how small”. I cannot begin to tell the horrors this captivating women experienced as a child. She had no suitable parental guidance or support. She graduated high school with a baby on the way. Married the father of her child immediately afterwards. She struggled to keep a baby and a house together and then another baby. Stood by her husband as he went through the alternative education program, then college degree after college degree. I myself can not imagine the dedication and commitment it has taken to provide such a service. Twenty years later she is the back bone of an entire family and yet she does not see her purpose. It is funny to think how people view themselves. The journey of life is not always doing great things for ourselves but what we do for others. The purest soul on my right claimed to wants to do bigger more powerful things. So I say, “I hate to break it to you dear you already have….what you NEED to do now is discover your potential outside of your family. You have given them a beautiful set of wings it’s time you return yourself the favor.”
