A Personal Message from Mike. Love On This Wasteland... I wanted to write and express my thanks to everyone who came to the final US Declaration shows in Londonderry, New Hampshire and Somerville, Boston this weekend. Two absolutely amazing shows with fantastic audiences to keep me on my toes. I have to say the entire Declaration tour experience has been one I will never forget as it has not only brought the past back to life somewhat (Hello Carter Allen), but made it part of the present in a way I could only ever have dared hope for when I set about re-recording Declaration for 2014. The energy and positive feeling that has been shown to me along the way since the tour began in Liverpool, England and travelled to Wales, Scotland, LA, New York, Europe, Japan (and Australia to follow), has been nothing short of astounding. I really hope and pray that we can reach similar heights during the 2015 Strength Anniversary. 2015 is already shaping up to be a monumental year and so much is happening that will be revealed as the year begins at The Gathering in Llandudno, Wales. I cant wait to play with the band again in January and catching up with everyone musically. So much has happened for everyone who was on stage at last years Gathering. James Stevenson has had an amazing year playing with The Cult and now with Tony Visconti (Producer of Change), in the David Bowie / Holy Holy Project (which has had incredible reviews in cyberspace), Craig Adams has been tearing it up around the world with The Mission / Spear Of Destiny and Smiley has been rocking with From The Jam and Archive from Wardour Street to Warsaw. Mark Taylor has been recording with Brian James and playing part in the Holy Holy events with Lulu and The Man Who Sold The World and I have to say that it is going to be something else when we all explode onto the stage at Gathering 23 in 2015. I hope you are all going to be there… cause Im gonna be there!!! Today, I decided to take part in a 5K road race to honour Brian Honan who was a huge Boston Alarm fan who died 12 years ago from cancer. His brother Kevin, who is state representative has honoured him every year since with a memorial run. Kevin was at the show last night and was so impassioned about his love for the Alarm and his brother, that I decided to get my running shoes on and hit the road. Kevins dedication to his brothers memory is remarkable and there were so many people who came up to me on the run saying how Brian was the worlds biggest Alarm fan and always at the front of every show we ever played in Boston. It felt humbling to be with his family and friends and I was glad to pay my respects and also think about all those other Alarm fans who are sadly no longer with us and of whom I am reminded of constantly at almost every show when talking with people these days. We have come so far as a community and during the run I was reminded of the time at the start of the original Strength tour when I ran the New York Marathon in 1985 and it has got me thinking of doing something similar in 2015, Im not sure in what capacity yet, but I hope it could be something that honours all those who have not been given the chance to live a full life like those of us still standing today and experience the great things that life is bestowing on our community right now. I am writing this from the airport in Boston and thinking about getting home and reuniting with my family. I will be in hospital on Tuesday for my usual bi-monthly round of life sustaining treatment and looking forward to finishing up The Scriptures recordings at Abbey Road on Monday. Thanks for everything that has happened in 2014 so far, and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2015 if not before…… Love Hope Strength Mike Peters
