A Prayer by Linda Monyak to Open the Final Session of the Matthew - TopicsExpress

A Prayer by Linda Monyak to Open the Final Session of the Matthew Bible Study O Lord, you have shaken us And we are “all shook up” At your birth, we are dazzled and dazed by the sight of angels And by God in the flesh diapered and dressed by a teenaged mother. On that little boat in a roiling Sea of Galilee, we gasp, not at the waves smashing down on us, But at your power to bring all to quiet calm with a word. Who are you, God? You don’t stay where you belong In heaven – you come to earth as human, as one of us You don’t stay where you belong In the holiest place in the temple – you rip the curtain that keeps us protected from you (or so we thought) -- And you stride out to call saints long-dead to life as you call on your Son to rise to life with you. And then your Son, this Christ, sends us out “to a place and work that he will show us, Sends us out to a place we don’t know”1 And we tremble with fear and great joy. Indeed, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” Amen. 1Gen. 12:1-3; for this wording I am indebted to Debbie Friedman’s song, “L’Chi Lach”, The Journey Continues: Ma’yan Passover Haggadah in Song.
