A Prayer for Youth Ministers Written by a Fellow Core Member, Victor Hernandez Heavenly Father, Like your faithful servant St. John Bosco, who dedicated his life to the betterment of children, juvenile delinquents and other disadvantaged youths. We take on this beautifully challenging responsibility of ministering to the youth that you have placed in our own lives. Although they may not all be orphaned or disadvantaged in the worldly sense, our society with its fallen mentality has continued to lure them away from the true path with false promises of fleeting happiness and pleasure. Blinding them, leaving them feeling spiritually orphaned and spiritually disadvantaged. We ask Lord, For the intercession of St. John Bosco, to help us obtain the graces needed to continue in this ministry. Especially when darkness seems to be the only thing we can see, The grace to keep moving when the enemy whispers in our ear.... lies of fear and discouragement. We ask for the grace to love like Jesus, even when our heart is hurt and bruised. We ask you for the ears to hear the pain of the young people and the shoulders to help bear their load. We ask for grace to be a faithful servant and to persevere even when there seems to be no hope in sight. Lord, we also ask for the intercession of St. Joan of Arc patron saint of soldiers, who to the world was just a girl, but was chosen by You to lead the French to victories in war. As we, as youth ministers, were called from every walk of life, we take up arms to fight for souls from the evils of the world. We ask for her prayers to assist us in gaining strength in this daily battle against the enemy in every way we and the youth around us are attacked. In this battle we also ask for the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel. To defend us in the spiritual battles we face with the enemy. To keep us from harm and to pray for us fervently. Lord, in the impossible moments in this ministry, in dealing with youth that have hearts as hard as rocks, when the financial means are not there to provide the materials and support to further the ministry, when we are faced with adversity from people who make it hard for us to do our job and all other seemingly hopeless situations we find ourselves in , We ask for the intercession of St. Jude, patron saint of hopeless causes. To pray for us in these times. So we can see mountains move and be reminded that nothing is impossible with faith in you, my God. And finally, You loved us so much my God not only did you send Your Son to die for us...you assigned each of us an angel as an extension of your love. To guard, guide, and comfort us in every moment of our lives. We ask for their prayers to constantly help us to be reminded of your endless love and mercy. Lord, hear our petitions, Let your grace move in our hearts and in the hearts of the people around us, So that your will can be done in our lives and so regardless of the outcome, I pray we can trust you fully and offer you the well deserved glory and praise ....With the intercession of all your angels and saints. We pray this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen
