A Prayer for respect for our Elders Father God I come on behalf of elders who surround each of us, as they are older in years as many are wiser with wisdom and generally have more life-experiences then our own. Many world societies honor their elders as each become wiser over the passing of time. Father, many elders with integrity, wisdom, character, and knowledge surround all of us. Upon reaching a level and standing whereas they may offer righteous advice concerning personal matters, business matters or matters of conscience they retire as our society dictates; and their importance is diminished. There are other societies who base an individual’s value upon prosperity, personal appearance or a worldly prominence. Upon the demise of youth, the loss of possessions, or a loss of competently held standing their value as a person is lessened. 1 Timothy 5: 1-2 Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity. Father we pray that the Holy Spirit surround our elders with your mercy and blessing, giving them a covering of erudition so those who surround them may receive their witness. I pray that all people become aware of the wisdom, advice, and knowledge an elder can offer concerning matters. May all these elders become knowledgeable concerning the sacrifice and love of our Lord Jesus Christ and may all elders kneel before Him as Lord and Savior. May our Lord Jesus Christ have all Glory.
