A Press book is the printed material the studios send out to the theaters to promote a particular movie. It contains information about the film to help the theater owner sell the film in his neighborhood. So it contains stories about the stars that can be sent to the local newspapers, various suggestions about promotion and ad slicks to cut out and send to the newspapers. And sometimes other products to sell in the lobby or gimmicks to attract attention to the film and theater. Always an interesting look at the early days of the theater business.
