A Principle for Personal Growth and Improvement When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, “What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening?” (Exodus 18:14 ESV) Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. (Exodus 18:17 ESV) Now obey my voice; I will give you advice, and God be with you! You shall represent the people before God and bring their cases to God, (Exodus 18:19 ESV) -In order for us to grow and improve, we need the observation and input of others. -Look for somebody more mature and experienced than you, somebody you respect to: 1. Observe and assess what you are doing. 2. Speak into your life. 3. Give you advice. -Be humble enough to listen to the advice given. -Moses improved in his leadership ability giving him more freedom to be a husband and a father to his family when he listened to his father-in-laws advice. -You, too, may be doing something that is not good. And you are not aware of it. Ask God to bring a Jethro to speak into your life.
