A Question of Resistance - Two Perspectives by Paul Smith wisegreyowl.co.uk/php/content.php?PageName=Books&Books=View&Book=7f1a61a8-d97f-11d4-e12d-9ffc9708b7fa Amazon Review: As an ageing Brit now living in the South West France, in the middle of what was a high area of resistance during WW2, with all the related stories locally as well as the Memorials to various shootings, massacres and atrocities by the occupying Germans, it was a strange feeling after reading this book to walk the local forest tracks where similar actions took place in and around the same period. I looked at the various areas with a new perspective, with heightened senses you might say and found myself regarding the terrain from the point of view of a Resistance Member, seeking out the safe and unsafe, the places of suitable ambush and also those suitable for hiding etc. Not something I had considered previously. Keeping an ear out for voices, the unexpected vehicle or light aircraft etc, wondering just what it must have been like to be hunted during those times was a new experience. It made me wonder how I or the British people would have coped if the UK at the time had been invaded and occupied and suffered the same indignities. The style of writing and the two sided viewpoint of present (1944) and future together with the local atmosphere here and the continued local hatred of the WW2 German Forces even to this day from those who went through it in my Region made for a very interesting read. A colleague bought the book for me knowing my interest in the subject. I was hoping for an insight to how it was for those at the time. I was not disappointed #WiseGreyOwl #WWII #eBook
