A Rebels nominee who was being sought by police following a domestic incident was arrested by Strike Force Raptor officers after a vehicle pursuit at the weekend. On the evening of Friday 19 December 2014, a domestic incident occurred in a vehicle at Whalan during which a woman was allegedly assaulted in front of three children, including an infant. The matter was reported to police who had been trying to locate a man to assist with their inquiries. About 9.40pm the following night (Saturday 20 December 2014), officers from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor observed a black Nissan Skyline being driven on Jersey Road, Dharruk, with its headlights off. Officers attempted to stop the car, but it accelerated away harshly. A short pursuit was initiated but officers soon lost sight of the vehicle and began a search of the area. As the Strike Force Raptor sedan pulled into Peterlee Place, it was allegedly rammed by the Nissan Skyline which was immobilised by the crash. A 32-year-old man was removed from the vehicle and arrested after a struggle with police, during which OC spray was deployed. Officers searched the Nissan, allegedly locating a machete inside. The man, who is a nominee of the Rebels OMCG, was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where he was charged with 22 offences, including police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously; resist officer in execution of duty; exceed speed by more than 45km/h; use offensive weapon to avoid apprehension; custody of a knife in a public place; common assault; and stalk/intimidate. The man appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday where he was refused bail to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on Monday 5 January 2015. Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
