A SCOTS jobs boost has cut UK unemployment. The jobless total in Scotland fell by 6,000 over three months. But across the UK the overall total was down 5,000, meaning 1,000 people landed on the dole in England and Wales. Unemployment in Scotland is now at 194,000 after seven consecutive months of falls — 25,000 lower than this time last year. The 7.1 per cent rate compares with 7.8 per cent for Britain as a whole. The number of Scots in work increased by 47,000 over the three months to April. There are now 2,530,000 people in work in Scotland — the highest since 2009.
