A SON’s LOVE: I haven’t been on FB in a while and will be posting all week in response to many issues that I have seen raised in my absence. Today allow me to speak not as a Senator but as the proud son of Mama Gladys Nyawira who this past weekend, celebrated her retirement as Church Elder of the Kihate PCEA Church. It is not often that we go to functions where we are filled with emotions but yesterday, as I watched my mother speak and glow as she ministered to us, I was filled with pride, love and gratitude for her life. She served as Elder for 27 years and her commitment towards building the church - and her silent ministry at home - never waivered. What you saw of her in church is what you saw at home. She was and remains consistent in how she lives in her belief and unlike many we know, is not hypocritical or two faced. In thanking former Makadara MP Dick Wathika for his generous donation towards her ongoing church project, I’d like to extend to you the challenge I’ve taken from her: Live gracefully. Live honorably. Mean what you say and say what you mean. God bless you, Maitu!
