A SPECIAL PERSONAL NOTE FROM ME about todays prayers. A few years ago, I was nearly killed in a car accident after being hit by a 20 yr old girl who was texting and driving. She never saw me sitting still at a red light. She plowed into the back of my car doing 60 mph thru a 25 mph college zone. She knocked me into a 5-way intersection. I experienced head trauma, severe whiplash and the loss of feeling in my entire left side, possibly a small stroke from the jarring of my neck. I had brief amnesia, but a concussion that lasted 2 full yrs. My speech was greatly affected, and I do therapy to help me retrieve words and pronounce them correctly. My biggest obstacle was coming to a moment of acceptance. I will never be the same again. However, I am grateful everyday that I am alive and survived. I reflect on a person I had the honor of seeing at a Catholic Conference many years ago --Tony Melendez. His story of having faith and courage to ACCEPT what is handed you in life engraved its meaning on my heart and mind for a life time.
