A Second Chance for All of Us! Hi Friends! I woke yesterday morning with something on my spirit and in my heart and then received a text from my daughter about the same topic. I have learned over the past years that when God speaks …. you need to listen!! Bishop Jakes has recently written a book about the same thing, titled “Instinct” and I am learning from him to listen, too! This past Monday, I was very excited to interview Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer about their new show, “Partners”. In my post, I referred to Martin being my “ex” husband. Unfortunately, there is a negative connotation to some people surrounding the word “ex”. There was one comment on Facebook this week about this, and I must say that she was right on point. Thanks Morgan for bringing this to my attention! This has opened up a great conversation on what to call our former spouses. My first husband/wife? My ex-husband/wife? At the end of the day, I am so thankful for where God has brought us over the past 18 years. We are totally a family that has come together – with a lot of hard work!! Martin is a wonderful father to our daughter and a great friend to all members of our family. We have a lot of love and respect for each other. As a blended family, we don’t even use the word “step”! All of our children are our children. Now, I realize that he is my “dear friend” and a wonderful father to our daughter. For anyone who is struggling with a past divorce and a blended family, I pray that this encourages you that our God is a forgiver, restorer and healer and that He would bring you to a place that you can call those special people in your life a “dear friend”.
