A Senior Kremlin media executive, charged with being the explainer in chief of Moscows policies to the rest of the world, proclaimed that Russia was the one country that could still reduce the United States to a pile of radioactive dust. Dmitry Kiselyov is a former anchor who was infamous for proclaiming that gays should have stakes put through their hearts, and launching vituperative attacks against Russian intellectuals who disagreed with him or Putins policies. Now, his role is much more polemic, with official state backing for his attacks against the West and minorities in Russia. Kiselyovs charges, a la Glenn Beck, have opened him to much lampooning on Russian websites and twitter feeds.
