A Snake Museum in Clyde? Who knew?! Anyone know the location of Jack Harriss Snake Museum? from The Clyde Enterprise : February 15, 1897 – Thurs. First Snake Story of the Season: Many people will remember seeing Capt. Wm. E. Gillett, our very efficient city clerk, yesterday afternoon in front of the City Hall with crow bar in hand breaking ice near the water trough there situated. Captain Gillett’s friends report that he made a startling find after getting the ice broken and attempting to remove the same he discovered an immense snake lying frozen and apparently dead next to the curbing. How the snake got in this place is and probably will remain a mystery. The reptile was of the black snake order and measured 5 feet9 inches in length but was not large in circumference by reason of long fasting. The snake has, we are informed, been turned over to person Jack Harris, who will have it embalmed, and placed in his snake museum together with this true account of its capture
