A Somali member of parliament narrowly escaped a car bomb attack - TopicsExpress

A Somali member of parliament narrowly escaped a car bomb attack on Saturday. Authorities confirmed the bomb was planted on Abdullahi Ahmed Husseins vehicle that was parked outside the hotel he was staying in. Security officers had been tipped by locals before the MP boarded the vehicle. Police then cordoned off the area, but the car detonated even before bomb experts arrived to diffuse the explosive. This comes just a week after another member of parliament was killed in a similar attack. And a day later, another member of parliament was gunned down near his home. The Islamist militant group Al Shabaab claimed responsibility in both attacks.
