A Status Update by #MitaZulka The Press Club of Sikkim [PCS] has expressed its deep gratitude to the State government and Information & Public Relations [IPR] department for revising its advertisement policy. The display advertisement rates have been enhanced by 50% while the classified rates were increased equally for both weekly and daily newspapers. While we congratulate our media comrades, we want to protest against the step-motherly treatment meted outto Talk Sikkim. We have not received a single advertisement from the State government in the last one year, although we fulfill all the required criteria and like other publications it is our right to get government ads. Talk Sikkim protests this ‘victimization’but if this is the price we have to pay forspeaking the truth, so be it. We are not sure how long the Talk Sikkim magazine will survive. But the Talk Sikkim page…well that’s another story. Here’s to social media…where true democracy flourishes.
