A Supporter`s View (Dennis Wright ) A much needed victory against an improved Leamington whose strength is obviously with the pace of the two wide men and centre forward. For once we played the ball on the green for the first half and look at the results. It started when we hit the post after 2 minutes and we all thought it was going to be one of those nights, however a few minutes later our new singing, St Juste got the ball on the right edge of the penalty box cut inside the defenders and hit a shot to the far corner. More pressure followed and Liam King added the second. Another one of his surging runs say him collect the ball in the box and hit a shot which he appeared to “shin” but it floated over the keeper, just under the bar dropping in the opposite corner. We were flying, it looked all on that more goals had to follow and they did the first from our visitors. Winning the ball from a blocked Clayton run in mid their own half they swiftly broke and the pacey winger slide the ball across the goal, after leaving our defence struggling to catch him, leaving Stefan Moore with the easiest of jobs to slide the ball home. Danny Hone had been injured just before the move and was substituted straight after the goal. Still we bounced back continuing to play football instead of just launching the ball forward and got the rewards with a scrappy third goal. From a corner the ball was blocked from a couple of attempts before being stabbed toward the goal, the keeper and Jarman both contested and Nathan got their first to nick the ball over the keeper with back to goal and almost on the line. In the second half we did what we had to, keeping the game tight giving little away but not playing the open football of the first half. A few chances came our way without adding to our total. In the first half Liam King showed us the player from last season, up and down, a threat in almost every attack and having much of the ball. King and Fry ran the game. My Man of the match, Liam King but a good all round team performance.
