A Surgeons Journal The Great Forgiveness Dr. Mohamed AHMED-NASR Last week I watched by pure hazard a fantastic program on the third French Channel ( France 3). 35 years later a kidnapped person accepted to meet the kidnapper . A great forgiveness has been realized between kidnapped and kidnapper that had already passed 20 years in prison. In 1978, The French nuclear energy was controlled by an important society headed by the Baron Empain ” the grand son of the senior Baron Empain that had built Heliopolis and the famous palace of Baron Empain in Heliopolis . In a winter day of 1978 , The Baron Empain has been kidnapped. Instead of all police efforts , he disappeared completely. He was conducted by the kidnappers to a cottage in a forest. In order to demonstrate the seriousness of their criminal act, they cut the tip of the little finger of Baron Empain . They put the tip of finger in a box and sent it to the family asking for a huge ransom. He as retained for 63 days before being released. Kidnappers developed a certain type of respect to the kidnapped person. During absence of Baron Empain all mass media started to describe in public all intimate details of Baron Empain life. Many facts have been added by mass media and journalists . He was 41 years old by that time . Mass media presented him as snaky person having multiple feminine relations . He was attributed all types of sin. Once released, he discovered that his reputation has been ruined. His wife abundant him. He was obliged to be separated from his two daughters and boy. He lost his head position of his powerful enterprise. Baron Empain is a strong person . He decided to restart his life . He went to the United states of America where he met his second wife that helped him to overcome his ruined life. For a wealthy person, it may be easier to restart a new life. 35 years later he is happy with his second wife . He recovered his children and could build a new industrial empire. The kidnapper that was from a good family passed 20 years in prison. He was abundant by his family from shame. His father died while he was in prison. When he ended his sanction he was released. Alain DELOL the kidnapper decided to write a book about the curious relation between kidnapper and kidnapped . He contacted Baron Empain that accepted to share the narration wit . While making money from writing calomniesh him each one from his side. The Kidnapper asked Baron Empain Forgiveness. I forvive you Declared Baron Empain. You have paid for your crime by beind for 20 years in prison. Your life has been ruined. You are now 70 years old. You did not enjoy a normal life . This is your punishment . You pid for your crime and I forgive you. On the other hand, Baron Empain declared that he does not forgive mass media , journalists and politicians that did not pay for their calomnies that ruines Baron Empain life. They do not even think that they are guilty. He then added, in any public affairs mass media are like wild birds that eat cadavers of animals. They do not think of the probability of ruining life of the attacked person. I was impressed from the program and I admired this Man that could overcome hatred and could forgive his kidnappers. While watching the program, I remembered images of slaughtering other Muslims and carrying their separated heads in their hands What a violence and lack of holly principles of forgiveness.
