A Survey About Our Stockbridge Cemeteries On July 29, 2013, I Alfred Britt, the Founder of the Cemetery Research Group, went out to three locations in Stockbridge to ask people on the street how they feel about the following questions. This was a random survey and is quite revealing about how people feel about those who are buried in our cemeteries and came before us to build our community. I was able to get 38 people to answer my questions below. Here are the results: Do you think the City of Stockbridge does an adequate job of caring for our City Cemeteries which are Stockbridge City Cemetery, Burke Cemetery and Memorial Cemetery? Yes 15 No 23. Do you think the Stockbridge City Council should have given then Mayor Stuart a hard time about having the Memorial Cemetery cleaned which is owned by the City? Yes 5 No 26 Undecided 7 Do you think the people should be heard on this issue at a council meeting instead of being stifled? Yes 22 No 3 Undecided 13 Do you think the veterans buried in our cemeteries should be recognized yearly by the city instead of leaving them in silent graves for eternity? Yes 31 No 5 Undecided 2 Do you feel the current administration cares about our cemeteries and their future? Yes 1 No 33 Undecided 4 Would you volunteer to help clean a cemetery in the area if asked? Yes 5 No 17 Undecided 16 Do you think that the city will do what they are supposed to do according to Georgia State Law about any of the cemeteries in Stockbridge and there are several more that are abandoned?
