A Sydney court is today due to reconsider a Wilcannia mans prison sentence in light of a landmark High Court ruling on Aboriginal disadvantage. William Bugmy, 32, was convicted of assaulting a Broken Hill prison guard with a pool ball in 2011, an assault which left the guard blinded in one eye. Last year the High Court rejected that declaration, and also held that the original appeal, based on adequacy of sentence, had been invalid.
