Dr. Hunt ... this startling under-representation should be cause for alarm. ‘Much of what we know about the world around us comes from media, Here is my thought...if you want to manipulate thought you control what is visualized. You especially show what used to be considered minorities , in subordinate, de humanized ways. You lead them as to what they can expect from life. Start counting the diversity.. and the manner of the portrayal. Things like whose life is portrayed... what diversity is shown, does your interest still hold when the other ethnic groups are shown as more than the supporting roles... these things have been honed for decades... noting and tossing out the underlying thought takes time.
