A TRIBUTE TO MY BABY SISTER I bare my soul- grief-stricken and broken As my heart is weighted down by unbearable sorrow My eyes have become a gateway to an ever flowing flood As my listless body battles the ever evading slumber For once I am not the master of my emotions Convulsions rack me in the stillness of the night While the morning boasts of dark circles and red eyes Yet in all of this my mind seeks reasoning To whom do you go to for answers? Not to our Dad, for he’s lost his daughter Neither to my brothers, for they’ve also lost a sister Or to my sisters, b’coz their sister is dead also But then to whom do I go? Why not to the Creator? It is said ‘He gives and He takes’ Does a compassionate God pluck a flower in its prime? And would He leave a hole in one’s heart? I ask these questions out aloud, yet He answers me not I say them silently in a prayer, but He ignores me still So what am I to do? Who am I to turn to? When a tragedy like this strikes, to whom does one turn? Certainly not God, coz He’s the instigator in the first place And this was all His doing But now I am suppose to rejoice for it is marvelous in His sight? Aw come of it! Show me His consideration and I will be contrite But then again, when we’re beset by the vicissitudes of life We take solace in His beatitudes and counsel in His guidance It is good to mourn, for therein lies our blessing And no matter the circumstances, let us cease not in thanksgiving Because when you dearly love a person, they never ever leave you You carry them with you in your heart My Dear Sis Y, I love you in life and I’ll love you in death And I pray that your soul will find peace on its journey!!!
