A TRUE CLASS ACT Jason Smith is Ringgolds own wounded warrior. In Afghanistan, Jason was going ahead of his troops with the metal detector issued to him to find Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Unfortunately, one was made of carbon rods (from car batteries) and was not detectible by the equipment issued to him, and it exploded under Jason, causing the loss of both legs. What strikes me about him is that he has an incredible attitude, and is a model of class and of perseverance in adversity. He does not take the local access talk show hosts bait to demonize an entire culture of people for the acts of a few bad guys. He doesnt weigh into any political debates either. He was and is an excellent example of the best our nation has to offer. To honor that spirit, I will delete any stupid political or cultural statements or grandstanding in any comments to this post. Lets get behind Jason and build he and his young family an ADA and VA compliant home, keeping them here where they belong.
