A Thank You to all the wonderful men and women that have served this Great Nation. Judis Dad served in three different branches of the service and had three honorable discharges from The United States Marine Corps; The United States Army and The United States Navy. His Navy service was during the Second World War and he was a Plank Owner (on original crew) on the USS Conway - a destroyer escort in the Pacific Theater. As Radioman 1C, he was able to listen to Tokyo Rose and was the first on board to hear that President Roosevelt had died and he heard the report first hand that Japan had surrendered. Each time he had to walk the length of the Conway to give the Captain the message and he had to keep the news to himself....and then wait for the confirmation.
