A Thanksgiving Thank You! This is a week of giving Thanks for all we have. I have an overabundance for many things. This year I want to shout out, “Thanks for our Border Terrier family!” As, I was walking our dogs yesterday, three leases tangled in my hand, I thought how lucky I am to have these guys. All the vet bills, striping and walking seems to be well worth it. Wally and I call them our kids. We are in the evening of our lives and they fill the void that family members some times leave behind. They amaze me, day after day, as I watch them grow, each with their own individual special personality. We have our baby, STORMY, who is smart as a whip and knows when to push the buttons. Into trouble most of the time as babies often are then, just in the nick of time, he make you giggle and all is forgotten. Next we have DUSTY, who is as dumb like a FOX, if you get my drift. He has taught the others the loud barking trick for attention. He knows it drives us nuts. He is also one of the most loving dogs I have ever had. TAZ is the oldest male of three. He brings to my mind an old Frank Sinatra song; I’ll do it my way. He does it all his way. He has taught the others to sing but they still don’t have the harmony down. He wants your undivided attention and if the others are around he will give a sigh of disgusted and walk away. Last but not least, our old lady, LEXIE. She is the CEO of the household. Thinks the boys are OK. After all, they are just the male version of a Border Terrier which makes them well beneath her, don’t you know! Don’t bring a female Border in though. She will not tolerate THAT competition. Such the tidy dog, she won’t even do her business in the play yard. She wants to be walked to her favorite locations, hunting all the way. You can often find her on the couch with her head on a pillow that she has fixed just perfect. Well there you have it. These “kids” that give us all the pleasures that “kids” can give. They are healthy and our family when family members are not around. How lucky we are to have them! I will give thanks on Thursday and every day for our Border family!
