A Thanksgiving get-together turned into a healing clinic today. After a wonderful meal, and wonderful conversation sharing about what God was doing in our lives, it was about time to wrap the leftovers for “take out.” Our host told us that he had injured his knee and lower leg earlier in the week and asked me to pray for him before I left. Several cycles of prayer reduced the pain to about half of what it was and definitely increased his range of motion. About that time I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to have our hostess pray for her husband. I thought that this was awesome because she is a nurse. Praying for a family member can be difficult, at several levels, but she was agreeable, and we swapped places on the couch. With a little coaching from me, and far differently than the way she had always prayed for healing in the past, she began praying commanding prayers. Soon all the pain in her husband’s knee and leg was gone, and his range of motion had significantly increased. I was then prompted to ask another guest whether she needed prayer. She said that her sciatica had improved while we were praying for our host, but that she was still in some pain. I prayed for her several cycles, again modeling healing prayer for our hostess, and there was some relief from the symptoms. I then had our hostess pray for this guest. Our hostess was able to get even more healing and a lessening of the sciatica pain. By now our hostess was really pumped, and began praying for another guest with a skin condition. Prayers of petition, prayers of command, dealing with the spiritual component, and praying for healing of the emotions did not make a visible difference in the condition of the guest’s skin. I explained that healing does not always happen as we expect, and that is does not always happen immediately, and so to give it at least three days – thanks to Ben Williams for that inside tip. Thank You, Father God, for allowing us the be the pipeline for Your healing power. But thank You even more for showing Your love to people who started the day in pain, but who will end it pain free.
