A Tribute To A Great Friend For September 2014 I read and wrote a lot this year here on FaceBook. The one person that has really moved me and inspired me to write this tribute to a great friend is Donna Bellomo and it is about her brother John. I got to know John Bellomo back in 1973...41 years ago. John was so amazing and so full of life. We hit it off together right away. I met John at North Bergen Pool where I was a lifeguard and he worked as a locker boy. 1973 was to be a very special year with so many things happening. I just graduated from North Bergen High School. I was on my way to Rutgers,Newark. John was 2 years younger than me. At the time, I was 17 and John was 15. We met two very attractive young ladies...Marie Esposito and Judy Browne that were both good friends too and so we double dated many times. We had just so much fun together. John was such a handsome young man and could have his pick of any lady but at the time he was just so crazy over Marie. I was crazy about Maries friend Judy. It all worked out so nice and it brought a bond between John and myself that would grow oh so strong. We loved the girls and we would talk about them all the time together. John and I would stay good friends. In 1975, Elton John came out with the song Someone Saved My Life Tonight. John always came to my lifeguard stand with his famous radio and we would listen to that song that we both loved so much that summer. In September of 1976, John was killed in a car accident at the age of 18. I just turned 21 that September a week before his death. I was at home and it hit me just so hard.My sister came into our house crying and told me. I cried so hard for my lost friend and buddy. I listened to Eltons song Someone Saved My Life Tonight constantly after that cause it brought me closer to John. 41 years ago and I can see it like it all was yesterday. Donna Bellomo...This September 2014 will once again be a rough time for you when you again think about something and someone that you loved so much. I give you my word. Someday you will see John again and your joy will be so great that no one will ever be able to take it from you. John,my friend and buddy...Donna,Marie,Judy and myself just wanna say how much we miss you and that you are still loved by us so for all the memories you gave us. Buddy...This song is dedicated to you. Thanks for being such a good friend.
