A Tribute to District 7020 and our Regional Coordinator Ramesh Manek.. I came accross the Worlds Greatest Meal to End Polio via the Rotary Linkedin group. I saw the message and it appealed to me that the idea is simple enough for me to approach my club with this. I emailed Susanne right away and got fantastic positive response from her, and that is how it all started First participation was from my club RC St Maarten Mid Isle. We had 2 events and raised $ 1000.00 in total. As time went on, and WGM started getting busy, then Susanne approached me if i would handle the Caribbean / D7020 events and compile and report them, so a coordinator for the Caribbean / D7020. I agreed and then approached our DG Jeremy and Foundation Chair Lindsey Both of them were very supportive and there started our real journey with the fantastic participation from D7020 I started this in Febuary 2014 and to date for this Rotary year 2013-2014 D7020 has contributed $ 19606.00 with 2052 persons participating and a total of 12 clubs participating, which also included Rotaract D7020 and Interact Club of St Dominic, which is our clubs sponsored Interact club. With the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation match this becomes $ 58818.00. Now we look forward to the new Rotary year 2014-2015 and hope that D7020 continues to build on this success.
