A Tribute to The San Antonio Spurs Last night was one of an absolute horrendous nightmare for Miami Heat fans,I included.I did not bother to go watch the match. It is almost as if i knew the outcome and trust me I would have been surprised had the outcome been something else other than defeat. Now dont say i am being a weak-minded Miami Heat basketball fanatic.I know my Miami Heat and I also happen to be an envious admirer of the San Antonio Spurs. If you are a true basketball fan like I am and a very keen student of the game like I am,then the San Antonio Spurs is the team to watch.Despite having an aging team ,the team plays excellent neat basketball that turns Kobe Bryant green with envy. The 2014 edition of the NBA Finals was painfully a one sided affair since game 3.Heart hearts were lifted in game 2 but all that was shattered in game 3 when the Spurs machined steam rolled into Miami to take control of the series in front of Heat fans. After the game 4 loss I sadly concluded it was over for my Miami.King James played his normal game, but sad to note is that his team mates never showed up. Giving credit were it is due, hats off to the San Antonio Spurs for a well deserved NBA Championship;once again congrats to Tim Duncan and The Fundamentals for their fifth Championship.I watched helplessly as Spurs carved out Miami in classic fashion. If you are looking for Hollywood basketball or the fancy stuff then the Spurs are not the team you should be watching.I watched them share the ball as they diced the Heat defense.I watched them shoot high percentage from off the field,I watched them setting the picks, rolling to the basket, sharing the ball to create space to shoot as well as to open lanes for a quick pass and quick runs to the basket.I watched the ball being popped out for those mid-range daggers that almost seemed to go in the moment they were released. Yesterdays victory for the Spurs was a victory for team sports over individual talent from a group of highly motivated individuals who were haunted by last years devastating loss to the very same Heat.It is a reminder that great teams win Championships and great players win games. The simplicity and humility of every member of the Spurs organisation is an indication of even how the basics when applied right can achieve great results for anyone. The Spurs organisation is made up of players who have overcome themselves and people who have discovered the power hidden in their weaknesses to come together and form a team that has crashed the HEAT. The lessons for me are simple. 1. Great people no matter how they fall, they always rise back stronger, there is always a hidden power hidden in weakness. 2.Great players win games but great teams win championships. 3.Great teams might not have great players, but if they have ordinary players who do basic things great, nothing is there to stop them from greatness. 4.Age is nothing but a number. 5.There is a power hidden in Focus. It has been a classic NBA Season, one that I closely followed closely.Sadly the season has ended.Am looking forward to another season of great basketball.I officially sign off this season with a You Tube link,a tribute to the San Antonio Spurs on how great an organisation they are and to the classic team basketball they play. https://youtube/watch?v=VcEYrjU_3sM
