A Tribute to the Best House Ever Five years ago I bought a house with the dream of creating a musician sanctuary. I wanted to build a house where musicians could play music day or night, as loud as they wanted, and get inspired by each others creativity. I called it The Dojo. Im so happy to say that over the last 5 years weve had countless musicians (and other creatives) live at the house and every person who lived there said I really feel like this has boosted my creative output. That was my sole intention and it was great to hear it reflected from so many people. We were also able to host many bands and artists that passed through San Diego. We hosted the entire cast of a play one night! In order of earliest resident, I want to take a minute and give a shout out to all the people that made this place work, and many of you literally made it work, thanks to the hours of labor, mental energy and sweat you put into this place. I was so lucky to always have such awesome residents. Joe Cardillo the fact that all our neighbors enjoyed your sax playing says a lot about your musicianship. Ill always remember the most EPIC ping pong matches. In fact, the word EPIC doesnt even begin to describe it. Thanks for all your support. Kevin Wall your contribution in the area of construction know-how was so essential, I literally dont think I could have started this house without you. Your late night food creations will go down in history as most delicious post-stoner jam snacking ever. EVER. Rich Dorotheo you are such a killer musician and how good you are at such a young age is scary. Even through your stay in San Diego was short, you left a big impact on a lot of people, and I was really glad to get the chance to tour with you. Chris Wilson to me, the dojo was built because I love being around people like you. You are hands down the most naturally creative person Ive ever played with. One of my favorite memories is you having your rig set up with the wireless guitar and walking around the house playing the trippiest, tasty jams ever. John Robin Varn that magic moment when you played Jump on the Hammond and I came in and David Lee Rothed you... man, it was love at first lyric. That organ would have been a complete waste of money if you didnt live at the house. Johnny Varn special at Cotijas! Gill Sotu Ive got a few videos on my computer still of you laying down poetry to Dojo House Band jams, and its just beautiful. Adding music to your lyrics is literally the easiest thing in the world, because your work is so good. Thanks to you and Renee for joining us at the house. Chaz Rodrigo Encinas dude I literally would have gone insane if I didnt have you helping me out the last couple months of the house. Youre a good man. Watching you and Rhett tear it up at Casbah was an awesome culmination of all the work youve done at the Dojo. Crystal Kent watching you grow as a musician was an absolute pleasure. Theres no one else I will call when I need a female singer, the passion you bring to music is amazing to witness. Mike Deezy and Beby Desu you guys are like the godparents of the Dojo. I had a feeling after you left things wouldnt be the same, because you provided so much needed support. You two are one of my favorite couples, it was such a pleasure knowing you were living at the Dojo. Konstant Be you were a Dojo staple my friend. I always felt like having your artwork around the house made us way cooler. I really felt like I got to know what it means to be a visual artist through you. Your painting of the girl and the bird will stay with us forever. Lilly Penhall what a story... I picked up a friend of a friend from some random motel and you ended up fitting right in, and putting down roots. It was such a pleasure having you at the house and getting to know you. I love how bold you are. Best of luck to you and Juanny. Jorge & Ricardo Luna you guys really represented Dojo 2.0 for me, and it was amazing to see the way you brought such a cool community to the house. The Lyon Crowns shows were seriously incredible, and I hope you both never stop playing together. Thanks for all the help fixing the house up at the end, I really really appreciate it. Gilbert Olais too bad we never got to get funky together, I dig your style. Thanks for all your handyman work around the house, I really appreciated it. The house is officially on sale, and youll see we cleaned it up a bit. Thanks for making my first experience as a landlord fun, easy and stress free (mostly ;)). Rock on!!! u.zillow/p19lzv/
