A Trust which is not trustworthy. We the residents of Shri Saurashtra Dashashrimali Nagar, which is the property measuring around 26,000 Sq. yard in Malad (W), Mumbai India owned and governed by Shri Saurashtra Dashashrimali Jain Bhojnalay Trust, Mumbai India. This residence premises were built in or around 1969 with the noble cause to provide shelter to the needy Jain families. In total 6 buildings were constructed where 252 families are residing here since then. During this period of 42 years the trustees of these premises have never looked after the maintenance of these buildings. Since last ten years, the trust has handed over the development rights of this property to one builder of the community named Ajmera Group of Companies (Vishal Developer). While doing so, the trustees have not bothered about the interest of the poor jain tenants residing in the said premises. The trustees have manipulated this development work just for their financial benefit and without having followed the law. Today, the said premises are valued for more than Rs.300 crores. This is the reason why the trustees are willing to develop the property which is actually meant for the needy jain families of the Jain community, but they are not willing either to look after the shelter of this 250 tenants or to compensate them financially. Instead, they have started threatening and forcing the tenants to vacate the premises by joining hands with Municipal Corporation which has issued a notice to these tenants to vacate the premises within 7 days, this act of BMC and the trust is full of inhumanity. In this situation, the trust can play his role to delay the demolition by using the funds for the necessary repairs of the buildings and then go for the redevelopment considering the law and the interest of all the deprived tenants. Now, the question is where these 250 families will go for their shelter, while they have to look after the education of their children as well as daily earnings. Where will they go for performing their ritual activities? Is it possible to get a home on rental basis in the area of your residence within 7 days? Don’t you think that this act by the trust and BMC is to harass all these tenants mentally as well as financially? We, the tenants and Sadharmik Bandhus of Jain community urge the public at large to come forward in our support and help us to survive our only shelter and family. You can help and support us either by forwarding this appeal on Twitter, e-mail, blog etc. or by giving legal advice and suggestions to overcome the situation. Your little gesture can create miracle for us so do come forward to help us as soon as possible.
