A.U.K. will Implement USAID TL Immersion Program and Public Service Course in Kosovo Prishtina, April 28, 2014 The U.S. Agency for International Development has awarded American University in Kosovo Foundation with a contract to implement the $2.79 million Transformational Leadership Immersion Program and Public Service Course. The five-year program aims to support the USAID Transformational Leadership Initiative by enhancing human capital and providing increased academic and economic opportunities for the citizens of Kosovo. “A.U.K. is committed to deliver a high quality American education to students from Kosovo that will prepare them to be ethical, practical and socially engaged leaders of their communities. Our mission is in line with USAID Transformational Leadership Initiative and we are pleased to work with USAID and other partners in this mission,” said Dr. Winfred L. Thompson, President of A.U.K. A.U.K. and USAID will implement the program in cooperation with other stakeholders of the Transformational Leadership Initiative, such as the Government of Kosovo, the University of Prishtina, and other higher education institutions in country, as well as with USAID Transformational Leadership – Scholarships and Partnerships Program Implementer – World Learning. The Immersion (AUPP) program is designed to meet the general academic needs of prospective university and graduate students. It will raise their English language proficiency levels and strengthen essential mathematical competencies. Furthermore, it will provide preparatory training for university admission exams for TOEFL, GRE and GMAT. The Public Policy Course (PPDL Certificate Program) will aim to assist the people and government of Kosovo in increasing the public policy development and leadership capacity at both central and municipal levels.
