A VISIT TO HANSEL In August we bought you the story of Hansel the small white pup that I found when I was in Bali and then a follow up was done a few weeks later when he was adopted out. I have been fortunate enough to keep in touch with his new parents and I was invited to visit Hansel on Sunday. Tanti from the Ubud BAWA shop came with me and we were like two kids in a lollie shop, we were so excited, we could hardly contain ourselves. As we approached the house I heard a familiar bark and I called out “Hansel” and I’ve never seen a dog run so fast, I don’t think his feet touched the ground – he threw himself at Tanti and I, trying to greet the both of us at once and then his sisters Shiro and Zara joined in all the excitement. Once they calmed down I was able to greet his parents Xavier and Soyoko and thank them for adopting him. I told them that when I had said goodbye to Hansel in September at Janice’s office all I wished for him in life was to go to a great home, have a big place to run around in and be happy – who said wishes can’t come true and were there tears – you bet there were- tears of happiness seeing what a great life he has after the terrible start he had. Hansel, Shiro and Zara have a large property to run around on and by 7pm, three tired dogs call it quits for the day, only to do it all again the next day – these dogs, are living the life all Bali dogs should lead. Another visit has been arranged for 21st December just prior to my return to Sydney - it will be another fun visit and this time a family photo will be taken, Mum, Dad & 3 dogs and maybe Mum Dad, 3 dogs and the “Aunties”. I think the smile on Hansel’s face says it all – I’m in Heaven!!
