A Very BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes out to ALL of the winners in this years 2015 AGTA Spectrum Awards, especially John Dyer who not only won 1st place with his very lovely 63.19ct Paraiba-Type Tourmaline from Mozambique in a StarBrite™ cut in the Innovative Faceting category but for Sweeping the category with 2nd and 3rd place too! there was no honorable mention this time around, WOW is all I can say, Nicely done John! ;) And to think John you where saying after I showed the 16 carat Colorado Rhodochrosite in a post prior to it being entered, not by me but its new owners, that everybody would be competing for second place against it... well it did not even get an honorable mention... Sad actually as this years faceting categories where dominated by several repeat wins by the same entrants and one category only had one winning entrant under the Phenomenal Gemstones for a natural split pair of boulder opals, so 1st place and NO 2nd, 3rd or honorable mention, how is this possible... :( Im not just sad for myself, clearly, but for all of the other gemstone artist or clients that hope to have a good showing. The one that gets me is under the Other Faceting category (which needs to changed and be broken down into two parts one for faceting and one for cabs) which 1st place went to a 43.96 ct. oval cabochon Tanzanite and the rest of the categories faceted stones was swept by one company for 2nd, 3rd and Honorable mention, not John this time but Nomads, Congratulations goes out to them too. These two categories alone locked out any of the other very talented and up and coming facetors and gemstone artist out there with no showing at all for there efforts... This is where multiple entries for people with deeper pocket then mine for entrant fees and others pays off. Oh well better luck next year for myself and others, that is if John or Nomads does not enter again! Lol ;) Well at least I have the North American Record for the 1,345 carat Largest Faceted Topaz of any color under my belt to be proud of plus my past wins from the AGTA! Lol :)
