A Visit in Guam after 60 years! The church on Guam was established by members in the military. When we were in Guam on 1953 and 1954, the church met in a military quonset chapel near tumon. a chaplain held services on Sunday morning there, so the church met in the afternoon. There were only a handful of non-military members. We remember Joe Blankenship who worked for Brown and Root construction company and his wife. There a Filipino couple who ran a restaurant and dress shop in Agana. The husband was a movie actor in the Philippines and was gone a lot. And there was a preacher from Arkansas, who was not well, and his wife. As we recall he returned back to States because of his illness. There was also a black lady who worked for civil service. After sixty years, the names do not come to mind. But the church was largely made up of military-related members. My husband and other men took turns speaking and teaching. The church owned a lot in Agana which was sold in late 1953 to help pay for a lot on Marine Drive, deemed a better location. My husband, Lyn, represented the church at the closing for the sale of the lot in Agana. He helped design a proposed concrete block building on marine Drive, but construction was not begun until after we left in 1954. (Lynn and Alene)
