A WARNING TO CORRUPT LEADERS As we look at our nation and some new and corrupt leaders, let us take the truth of this Psalm to heart. As long as God’s people still inhabit this earth, He is still in control and will judge the wicked. There is no man too high for God to deal with him. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. Psalms 82:1 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Psalms 82:6 The Bible speaks of the national leaders as gods and sons of the most high. This is not a reference to Jehovah God, but a name and a place of leadership, a high office. This is the way the Bible refers to leaders and judges that represented God in a theocracy form of government. These people were set up to judge and rule in His Name and by His authority. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Romans 13:1-4 The office of a governmental leader is a Divine office. They are appointed to administer judgment for Him. They are honored for who they represent more than who they are. In Bible times as in our own time, the office of a governmental leader was designed to be one of the most responsible and honorable positions that could be filled by mere men. Those that filled such positions were to be persons of high morals and character and uprightness. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. (Psalms 82:1). There are no closed-door meetings as far as God is concerned, there are no secret decisions, He is in the midst of all that leaders do. God help our leaders to know that their word is beneath His inspection
