A WEEK AFTER THE (RELATIVELY MILD) NOREASTER THE FUTURE FOR OUR BEACHES? — Geotubes still exposed. (They should be covered, as sunlight degrades them.) Base layer geotube, installed below beach level, now visible, as are the concrete plugs used to fill the giant plastic sausages with slurry of sand and water during the construction phase last winter. Note evidence in photos of waves now coming up to the base of the geotubes. Without sand cover (needed for downdrift beaches), the geotube structure is looking like the sea wall it is. Thanks, once again, to Susan Landmann for the photos.
