A WIND CHILL ADVISORY will be in effect tonight, January 22, 2014 from 9:00 p.m. until Noon tomorrow, January 23, 2014. Very cold temperatures and winds of 15-25mph will produce Wind Chill values of 15-24 degrees below zero! In these conditions, frostbite can occur to unprotected skin in as little as 15 minutes. Please exercise extreme caution when outdoors, and be sure to dress appropriately minimizing as much exposed skin as possible. Dress Appropriately: • If you must go outside, wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing rather than one layer of heavy clothing. The outer garments should be tightly woven and water repellent. • Wear mitten or gloves. • Wear a hat. A hat will prevent loss of body heat. • Cover your mouth with a scarf to protect your lungs. Ensure you have an Emergency Kit in your Vehicle: • Shovel • Windshield Scraper • Flashlight • Battery Powered Radio • Extra Batteries • Water • Snack Food • Matches • Extra Hats, Socks and Mittens • First Aid Kit • Blankets • Tow Chain or Rope • Road Salt or Sand • Booster Cables • Emergency Flares • Fluorescent Distress Flag/Tape • Any Necessary Medications
