A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for all of eastern North - TopicsExpress

A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for all of eastern North Carolina for Tuesday and Wednesday. A WINTER STORM WARNING means that 4 or more inches of snow is expected within a 24 hour time period. Sleet and freezing rain may mix in with the snow along the coastal areas (east of US17) on Tuesday morning, which will result in lower snow amounts, probably 2-4 inches in a mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet. Inland (west of US17) significant snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected. Some of our computer forecast models are showing pockets (especially inland…west of US17) where there could be significantly more snow than the general ranges I have noted here. Don’t be surprised if we end up with some places that get 10 or more inches of snow. Since the storm has not actually formed yet, there is some uncertainty as to where it will form and where it will move. If it develops closer to coast, then snow will be heavier the farther north and inland you go and if it develops more out to sea, the snow/ice amounts would increase along the coast. One way or the other, this will be fairly large snowstorm for eastern North Carolina.....skip
