A WISH I was in Srinagar just a month or two back. I saw heaven alive out there. The divine skyline, picturesque outdoor, rivers flowing as dream sequences, charming shining roof tops, clouds hugging and kissing bare mountains, weather playing just perfect and greenery growing as secret desires – all at one place was simply unbelievable. But the recent flood disaster seems to have devastated this enchanting place. Entire India wants to do something to put the place back at its glory that it deserves. I wish, if only there were no mental barriers, if only they had not caged themselves in their heaven, if only they were more open and approachable, if only they had considered us as close and as connected as we do, if only they had not nurtured an unnecessary inhibition towards their own Army, if only they had kept scope for a more than willing India to reach them faster, if only they had not relied on those who consider outsiders as closer than us – we could have faced this disaster together with ease as that had allowed us to divide its impact on the entire population of this country. Let us make a new effort now, with a new enthusiasm as having Modi on our side, to sincerely work for breaking all shackles of constitutional provisions, restrictions and articles. Let us become at least be as optimistic as our PM and work together with our fellow Kashmiris to make the place better than before. Let the displaced minority also finds their way and place back and all Kashmiris begin flaunting their Indian identity before all of us.
