A WORD FOR THE SINGLES, ANOTHER FOR THOSE MARRIED. 102/2014, 10 September 2014 POWER TIME WORD DEVOTION written for you by Overseer PZ Mukwena BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 7:6-9, Genesis 2:21-24 Cyberspace Football games demand that you create your own team. You pick the players, the kit and the stadium you want them to play in. Some software can create a virtual fictitious person - complexion, stature, hair and dressing. Well - those are imaginary football teams and friends who do not exist. You are real and God deals with the real you and real people out there. (1) A WORD FOR THE SINGLES. Gods plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11) and includes living fully and joyfully as you are - single. Nevertheless, if you desire to be married - you do well too. You probably have a wish list of the type spouse you desire. But do not dwell on that character wish list. Dwell on God working on you to be the right person. Adam was made to sleep as God created Eve. Eve herself had no part in Adams creation. Many people who have actively (sometimes entrepreneurially) tried to look for a particular type of spouse, besides they bring God-fearing, have hit against walls with disastrous consequences. So seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these other things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33). (2) A WORD FOR THOSE MARRIED Those married may have, in marriage, met a different person from the one they thought they had. They then begin a no-win war of trying to change their spouse. That war has to be Stopped - the only person one can change is oneself. Accept what you have and trust God for love and patience that will spill over to the spouse that need changing (1 Peter 3:1) ACTION: Singles: For now disregard your phanthom wish of a non existent person - Christians come with their warts which make them unique and lovable as God is forever working on them. Married: Stop trying to change your spouse. You cannot! God can, but He starts by working on you. Jesus twelve disciples were rag-tag grouping of very unlikely people. Regarding Peter the leader of the disciples Jesus said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. [Luke 22:31-32] Allow the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience etc., to show in your conduct. It is only after that change in you will extend to your spouse. GUIDANCE TO YOUR PRAYER: Thank you heavenly father for creating me special, unique and significant. Mould me and make me suitable for my spouse. Help me Lord to love unconditionally and to forgive where necessary. BIBLE VERSE TO MEDITATE ON: And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. [Genesis 2:21-22]
