A WORD TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE: The apostle Paul dearly loved the elders of the Ephesian church, and when he visited them on his way to Jerusalem, he wasnt sure if he would ever see them again this side of heaven. Paul acknowledged the risks inherent in his trip: chains and tribulations await me (Acts 20:23) Then came Pauls bold proclamation in verse 24: those dangers and risks were not going to keep him going to Jerusalem. What mattered most to Paul was not how long his life lasted, but that however many days God gave him he would finish his race with joy. Paul was confident that the Lord had called him to testify to the gospel of the grace of God, and he had faith, full fulfilled that calling, often at great cost to his physical health and safety. And he was willing suffer some more. What an example for us! May we, like Paul, finish our earthly race with joy! We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. ROMANS 5:3-4
