A WRITE ROYAL RANT NOVEMBER 2014 It’s been a busy and diverse month, as usual, a mixture of the spiritual and the Political. Perhaps it’s what you don’t see that is more interesting. We all see the King when he is in the media and we certainly get to hear about it when he is on protest but how many of us know what he’s up to when he’s not in the limelight? Well, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes and this month’s been no exception. I met with three top executives of National Trust, one from each of their Stonehenge, Bristol and London offices (and yes I sold them each a copy of the Trials of Arthur, one Kindle and two paperback) ahead of their meeting with the DCMS. We discussed the proposed tunnelling of the A303 adjacent to Stonehenge. They put it to the DCMS that they could count on my support or opposition dependent on receiving ‘cast iron’ guarantees, that any dead disturbed in the process would be re-interred as close as possible to where they were found. I have since learned that as a result of this meeting and their subsequent meeting with the Minister that this item is now firmly placed on their agenda, let’s hope they see sense or we may have to give them ‘as promised’ the biggest protest in Europe before they put the first spade in the earth. Also this month, I appeared as a member of a panel, which included the local MP and prominent council members, talking about Salisbury politics and how the youth are feeling disconnected with the political process. As I pointed out, it doesn’t matter who you vote for the Government still get in, and there is no discernible difference between the politicians of whatever party or flavour. This leaves the youth of Salisbury with little or no choice other than to follow the tired political system or as our friend Russell Brand would advocate to not bother voting for any of them. I offered a third way, one I believe in passionately. If you don’t like what’s on offer, get out there and do it yourself. Real Democracy….. I also set up Skype on the computer and tried a test call to a University in America, in preparation for an interview. It was like something out of Monty Python as Kazz remarked as both I and The Chair of Classical Languages from the University tried to get to grips with modern technology. They are ‘Reading’ Ceasar and his accounts of the Druids and thought it useful for me to talk to his students .This is arranged for next Friday. That contact came as a result of my appearance in The Wall Street Journal, speaking out against EH’s wishes to close the droves, so it goes to show, you never know where these press appearances will lead. Samhain saw me performing High Magic ritual, more akin to something out of a Gothic classic than the work of a modern Druid, chalking Pentacles on the floor and using ritual tools and paraphernalia, but needs must, when others resort to supposed psychic attack on me and members of my Order. I also managed to put out a good number of flyers for The Trials of Arthur around Salisbury this month; The thinking behind that being that it’s about time the people of Salisbury knew something about their Independent candidate at next spring’s general election. Well that’s just some of what I’ve been up to this last month along with the ongoing discussions with EH over my proposal for longer access at the Winter Solstice and continued campaign for the re-interment of the Guardians and Stonehenge Ancestors.
