/A Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) searching for small crabs to eat at the shores of Paracas, Peru/ One of my favorite images from Peru - so far. Maybe because just a few seconds after I shot this frame I can hear my driver shouting my name from the cliff I climbed down on to reach the beach and when I take my eye from the viewfinder I see this giant wave coming, literally drowning me in ice cold salt water the Humboldt current brings up to the southern Peru shore line all the way from Antarctica. There is no chance I can escape. However, I managed to rescue my Canon camera by raising my arms up in the air but the rest of me was drenched in the Pacific Ocean. Both me and my driver laughed our lungs out and I thought to my self that this is truly the life of a photographer - and I must admit that I, for some peculiar reason, like it. :) Exposure 1/2000 sec at f/7,1; 280 mm and ISO 200. © Kenneth Back.
