A Wild Horse Tribute - TopicsExpress

A Wild Horse Tribute Harold Roy Miller Northeast of Carson City Lies a sagebrush covered plain, Where dwarf trees evoke pity And mountains hold back the rain. This is prime wild horse territory Where the bands freely roam. Thats the setting for this here story of the famous stallion that calls it home. He’s a faded black called Little Big Britches Because he is not all that tall This wild mustang has established niches, and is well known and loved by all. His unruly mane is something to see And it enhances his wild look That might be what got him on TV and on the cover of a Western book I call him Sampson; he’s a horse who dares and once I watched him make a stand. Against six stallions who coveted his mares And he whipped the whole junior band. He is a caring father who is mostly unsung but a vigilant guard he will keep When fatigue has over taken his young He will stand over them while they sleep. He guides his mares to safe secure places. A benevolent leader to his Pinto band. They are often seen following the traces That meanders over this rocky land. I could talk for hours about this magnificent steed. to keep them around is my endeavor He is a credit to the entire mustang breed May he roam the range forever!
